Immigration Health Clearance (IHC) – Application Process

Immigration Health Clearance (IHC) is a requirement for select categories of employment in Bahrain, especially in sectors such as healthcare, education, and sports, where medical fitness is critical to job performance and public health.

Who Needs IHC: IHC is generally required if your employer indicates the need for medical screening before issuing a Sponsorship Letter. This is commonly applicable for professions involving direct contact with the public or requiring physical exertion.

How to Apply:

  1. Engage the services of an Immigration Health Officer within the Co-operation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf (GCC) via the Immigration Health Clearance Office by email stated below.
  2. File an IHC application through the officer and obtain an official IHC code.
  3. Share this IHC code with your prospective Bahraini employer to continue your visa sponsorship process.
  4. Once the Sponsorship Letter is issued, your Sponsor may proceed to obtain a sponsored employment visa on your behalf, valid for a minimum of 24 months..

Important Note: You should not proceed with a sponsored employment visa application unless your employer confirms the IHC requirement. If you are unsure whether your job requires IHC, consult your employer or the NPRA directly.
